A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between JSC “Center for International Programs” and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, marking an important milestone in the development of international cooperation in the fields of education and science.
The event opened with a welcome address by Adil Kusmanov, Chairman of the Board of JSC “Center for International Programs”. In his remarks, he outlined the Center’s key areas of activity, informed participants about the latest updates and innovations within the “Bolashak” and “Scientific Internships” programs, and highlighted the objectives and main areas of implementation of the Memorandum.
Continuing the event, Zhang Zhaoguo, Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, in his address provided a detailed overview of the University’s academic indicators, educational programs, and research capacity. He also noted the high level of Kazakh–Chinese cooperation in the fields of education and science, expressing his readiness to further expand collaboration and implement joint initiatives.
Within the framework of the agreements reached, special emphasis was placed on the training of highly qualified professionals for the nuclear energy sector and related industries. Starting from 2026, under the Bolashak program, the launch of a separate category covering master’s and doctoral degree programs as well as research and professional internships is planned, which will enable the sector to be supplied with internationally competitive specialists.
The implementation of these initiatives is carried out with the participation of leading foreign educational and research institutions. In this context, Shanghai Jiao Tong University has been included in the list of foreign higher education institutions recommended for participation in the “Bolashak” program, as well as in the list of research organizations and universities under the “Scientific Internships” program.
To date, 20 citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan have successfully completed their studies at Shanghai Jiao Tong University under the “Bolashak” program.
The signing of the Memorandum marked an important step toward expanding international academic cooperation and creating new opportunities for the training of highly qualified specialists capable of contributing to the country’s scientific and technological development.
